How this is calculated
- Backing adds your chosen overhang (default 4 inches) to every side of the quilt top.
- Panels are calculated from your usable fabric width after removing selvages.
- Yardage rounds up to the nearest ¼ yard so you always have enough.
- Piecing more than one panel adds a seam; press seams open to reduce bulk under the quilt.
